Akshardham

Akshardham is the famous temple of "Swaminarayan Sect" which is the richest sect in the world. It is a unique cultural complex built in Gandhinagar in memory of Lord Swaminrayan. Inspired by H. D. Pramukh Swami Maharaj,Akshardham is a miracle worked by the service and devotion of thousands of volunteers.

It is an intricately carved, majestic monuments of 6000 tons of pink sand stone awash with spiritual stillness. The entire monument was built without the use of steel. Besides a 7 feet gold leafed idol of Lord Swaminarayan and his holy relics, there are three exhibitions on Indian Culture with light and Sound shows, a multimedia show and an animatronic show. Games, rides and food refreshments are other attractions of Akshardham.

How to get there

Air: Nearest Airport is Ahmedabad.
Railway: Nearest Railway Stations are Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.
Road: State transport buses connects various centres of Gujarat. It is situated 32 Kms. north east of Ahmedabad.

Suggested Itinerary for Akshardham

Mumbai - Bhavnagar - Palitana - Diu - Somnath - Sasangir - Veraval - Junagadh - Porbandar - Dwarka - Jamnagar - Rajkot - Ahmedabad - Mumbai (7 Nights / 8 Days)

Day 01 - Mumbai - Baroda Bhavnagar

To discover Saurashtra, we leave from Mumbai for Baroda by Air. On arrival we proceed to Bhavnagar. Enroute we visit Historical Harrappan site Lothal. On arrival in Bhavnagar transfer to Hotel. Night halt. (B/ D)

Day 02 - Bhavnagar - Palitana - Diu

After breakfast we proceed to visit Palitana- Jain Temple. Visit to Shatrujaya Hill. After Darshan we proceed to Diu fort. Night halt. (B/ D)

Day 03 - Diu

After breakfast we visit Fort , Nagova beach & Portuguese Church. After sightseeing day free to relax on the beach. Night halt. (B/D)

Day 04 - Diu - Somnath - Sasangir - Veraval

After breakfast we proceed to Sorti Somnath. The historic shore temple of Somnath is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva in India. After Darshan we proceed to Gir forest. Sanctuary provides refuge to that rare species- the Asiatic Lion. Enjoy Jungle Safari. We proceed to Veraval for night halt. (B/ D)

Day 05 - Veraval - Junagadh - Porbandar

After breakfast we leave from Veraval for Junagadh to visit Uperkot Fort, Damodar Kund, Girnar Hill. In the afternoon we proceed to Porbandar. On arrival we visit Kirti Temple - Birth place of Mahatma Gandhi, Bharatmata Mandir. Transfer to Hotel For night halt. (B/ D)

Day 06 - Porbandar - Dwaraka - Jamnagar - Rajkot

After breakfast we proceed to Dwaraka to visit the famous Dwarakadhish Temple & Betdwaraka. After sightseeing we proceed to Jamnagar. Visit Cremation ground & Lakhota fort. Proceed to Rajkot. In Rajkot we visit Waston Museum, Library & Kaba Gandhi No Delo (House of Gandhi where Gandhi grew up.) Night halt in Rajkot. (B/ D)

Day 07 - Rajkot - Ahmedabad

After breakfast leave from Rajkot for Ahmedabad. Transfer to hotel. Visit Akshardham, Sabarmati Ashram. Night halt. (B/ D)

Day 08 - Ahmedabad - Mumbai

After breakfast proceed to Airport for flight to Mumbai.
